Do we really need more game consoles?
PS4, Ybox 540, Nintendo HDWii are just some of the ridiculous contemplated console names that I have come across. Do we really NEED another Playstation or Xbox? Well, I dont quite think so, but many others do. When consoles first come out, they are pretty pricey, and most average gamers cant afford to go out and buy another console just to play the latest addition the their favorite games. I will give some leeway by saying that new consoles dont come out every year, but when they do, the hardware quickly becomes obsolete. I for one play most of my games on my PC, which I update with the latest hardware and software almost monthly. On the other hand, you cant install new CPUs or GPUs into a console, so the latest and greatest PC is already 50 times more powerful than the newest console. In my opinion, PC gaming is the only way to stay up to date with all the latest technological advancements. I do however see the point in having game consoles. Whenever you buy a new PC game, there is usually a little sticker on the box that has the system requirements, and graphically heavy games like Crisis (which a lot of people were saying that you need a NASA supercomputer to run the game on full setting) require a high powered rig to even run. With console gaming, almost all games have just one standard default graphics setting, bloom setting etc... So that you dont have to drop even more money to upgrade your rig so you can play the game with the all the settings turned up. Consoles just make things easy to play games, and buying a console every so ofter isnt really so bad. So yes, as long as the consoles dont get up in to the thousands of dollars (This means you, Sony), and add new groundbreaking (not just better graphics) then keep the consoles coming! No, the Wiimote isnt groundbreaking, it hardly works. The Wii is a terrible console :P.
